
I imagine maybe there's some way to get malware in a situation like that, but I only say that in a "well, anything's possible" kind of way, it's unlikely that it will actually happen. (not saying you should, just it's pretty transparent) you could open every file yourself in Notepad++ to verify what is being changed. when you install someone else's mod you're really just replacing a text file with a slightly altered text file, it's not something you really need to check for a virus.

The way a lot of the modding in this game gets done is just rewriting the lua scripts that make up the game, you can change things like loot drop rates all by yourself. I've been learning to mod the game a little myself and fant and some of the others who hang around there have been pretty helpful to me.
